Tonight on tv over here there is a documentary about a woman who is going to marry a man on death row. The man was sentenced to death for the apparent murder of his girlfriend, and he is currently on death row in Florida awaiting execution. This woman started writing to him after watching a documentary on television about death row and how people there are treated … etc. A connection developed and she flew over there to meet him. And now they are getting married. They have met just 9 times, each meeting lasting for 6 hours, bearing in mind that they do not actually get to spend time together, only through the glass, when they are married they will not have any time together, they will obviously not be able to consummate the marriage, she will continue to live over here with her children, and at some point, he will be executed. So what is it that makes a woman want to marry someone like that? Why is it that someone would choose to commit themselves to a person who, in all reality, they don’t really know? Someone who has committed such a terrible crime and will in due course, have to pay the ultimate price for it?
Attention seaking? Or does he have a big fortune? I guess it takes all sorts and we have all sorts in this world. There are people who would do the most bizarre things and their movites we simply will never know. It's in a way disturbing but in a way almost conforting to know that whatever your ideas or preferences or systems of belief or morals or views on life or whatever, there's someone out there who most likely shares them.

well to my knowledge he doesn't have a vast fortune but .. who knows. guess I'll have to watch it and find out.
There is an article on the Crime Library website on something like this, where women marry or form relationships with men who have committed murder, rape, and things like that. one of the things was that the women might just want the public attention (like WB was saying), or jsut the fact that they find the aggressiveness (I guess) of the man attractive. (I guess that theory was as an evolution view.) Or maybe she just felt sorry for him or liked the idea of loving someone that was far away (being that she must've been aware that he was not getting out of prison.) It is just really weird though, and I'm curious myself as to what goes thru these women's heads when they want to marry someone who has committed serious crimes and especially if they won't be getting out of prison.

I think these women seriously need counselling they are often naive enough to assume they can change the man, forgetting that by taking a life, the creature's personality is already altered for the worse..and what sickens me about this whole business, are these stupid women who fall for child killers, you can bet Ian Huntley will soon recieve fan mail from some deluded eejit.
